Competition Motorsports Carries Momentum into Lime Rock Races

Lakeville, Conn. – Fresh from a very productive return to the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup USA presented by Yokohama race action three weeks ago in Monterey, California, Competition Motorsports will be back on track this weekend as the series visits Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut for the third event weekend of the 2014 championship campaign.

The West Coast swing saw Competition Motorsports score three podiums in the double-header race weekend, and the team is ready to convert that momentum into more points this weekend.

The fifth and sixth races of the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup USA presented by Yokohama series will feature a concentrated driver lineup for the California-based team, with youngster Michael Lewis taking on Platinum Class competition in his No. 98 Competition Motorsports/Curb-Agajanian Porsche 911, with both Fred Poordad in his No. 02 Affinity Motorsports/TLI/Competition Motorsports, and Blair Chang in the No. 9 The Agency/Competition Motorsports Porsche 911 set to do battle in Gold Class competition.

Lewis arrives in Lime Rock carrying momentum from his first-rate run at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in which he led both races flag-to-flag in his debut at the circuit. His dominance gave him a healthy boost in points up to second in the standings. Heading to Lime Rock Park, Lewis will look to use the lessons learned years ago in Formula BMW Americas competition to close down the six-point gap to current series leader Colin Thompson.

For Poordad, who has been a consistent podium placer this season, the weekend marks his debut on the short 1.5-mile, right-turn dominated track of Lime Rock Park and he brings positive momentum similar to that of Lewis. In just his third GT3 Cup race at Laguna Seca, he brought home a solid fifth place finish in Race 1, only to trump that performance with a first place finish in the Gold Class in Race 2.

“It is always good to get out to Lime Rock,” said Competition Motorsports team owner Bob Faieta. “We had a very big weekend at Laguna and with the schedule picking up, this is a good time to get some momentum in the points for Michael and Fred so hopefully we can make the most of the quick weekend!”

The Lime Rock Park event will be a busy one for the Competition Motorsports team with two short practices ahead of qualifying on Friday and two 45-minute races on Saturday. The first race is set to go green Saturday at 12:35 PM (ET) and the second at5:10 PM (ET).
