Tujunga, CA – Competition Motorsports virtually swept both podiums for the double race weekend at Miller Motorsports Park, Utah during the fifth round of the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy. Up in the altitude alongside the Wasatch mountain range, just outside of Salt Lake City, team drivers Alessandro Chiocchetti, Steve Goldman, Mike Mc Alister, Fred Poordad, and Michael Zuieback had an incredible weekend, culminating in a podium sweep during Race 1 and a P1 and P2 finish in Race 2.
A total of eighteen cars were entered in the field for the Miller Motorsports Park weekend. The first official practice proved to help all of the Competition Motorsports drivers for qualifying because once qualifying took place, it was clear that the team had fast car and driver combinations. Qualifying for Race 1 saw Fred Poordad take pole position. When Race 1 occurred a few hours after qualifying, Competition Motorsports looked commanding during the event. At the conclusion of Race 1, Fred Poordad took the victory, with Michael Zuieback finishing P2, Steve Goldman in P3, and Mike Mc Alister in P6. It was yet another podium sweep for the team, with Fred Poordad adding to his overall win tally and points lead. After the incredible results on Saturday, Qualifying for Race 2 was yet another success for the team with Fred Poordad scoring his second pole position of the weekend. For the second race, it was much of the same success seen before with Fred Poordad scoring a double victory, Michael Zuieback finishing in P2, Alessandro Chiocchetti finishing in P4, Steve Goldman finishing in P5, and Mike Mc Alister finishing in P16. During the entire season, Competition Motorsports and the team’s drivers have produced excellent results. The team is working hard to provide fast cars for the remaining couple of races in the season.
