Tujunga, CA – Competition Motorsports scored a podium finish during the Road America weekend (Round 4 of the championship), which saw many IMSA Cup drivers attend the race in preparation for their event the following weekend. Team drivers Alessandro Chiocchetti, Mike Mc Alister, Fred Poordad, and Michael Zuieback had to race against many new and strong drivers that entered the series for this round only. At the end of the weekend, all Competition Motorsports drivers showed good speed during the intense weekend, culminating in a podium finish in Race 1 by Fred Poordad.
A total of nineteen cars were entered in the field for the Road America weekend. For the first official practice session, Fred Poordad finished P4, Alessandro Chiocchetti finished P5, Michael Zuieback finished P7, and Mike Mc Alister finished P16. All drivers took the experience from practice and applied what they learned for the qualifying session, that would occur soon after and that would set the grid for Race 1. Qualifying for Race 1 saw nice results for each driver, and also for the first race. In particular, Fred Poordad was able to score a P3 podium finish in Race 1 against the very fast IMSA Cup drivers. Mike Mc Alister finished P9, Michael Zuieback finished P10, and Alessandro Chiocchetti finished P12. All of the team drivers displayed great skill in the stacked field. After the successful results on Saturday, the drivers had to qualify again and compete in Race 2 on Sunday. Qualifying for Race 2 saw the drivers score good positions to attack the race later in the day. At the end of the 45-minute Race 2, in the winding hills of Road America, Fred Poordad finished P4, Michael Zuieback finished P6, Alessandro Chiocchetti finished P8, and Mike Mc Alister finished P12.
