DOMINANT VICTORY AND THREE PODIUMS AT COTA FOR COMPETITION MOTORSPORTS

Tujunga, CA – Competition Motorsports set the tone of the weekend at Circuit of The Americas (Austin, Texas) by scoring a dominant Race 2 win with Michael Zuieback, multiple podiums between Michael Zuieback, Fred Poordad, and Mike Mc Alister, and also having nearly all of it’s drivers within the Top-5 positions for qualifying and both races. After a strong weekend at the previous round in Miller Motorsports Park, Utah, team drivers Alessandro Chiocchetti, Steve Goldman, Mike Mc Alister, Fred Poordad, and Michael Zuieback continued their run of strong results, culminating in the first victory of the season for Michael Zuieback in his #2 Discount Tire Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car, Fred Poordad extending his points lead in his #20 Wealth Management Strategies Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car, and Mike Mc Alister scoring his first podium of the season in the #18 CM Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car.

Race 1: With the help EFFORT Racing’s Porsche Motorsport North America Young Driver, Michael Lewis, Michael Zuieback teamed up with Lewis for this weekend’s action at Circuit of The Americas. Lewis’ experience at this track seemed to pay off, as his guidance helped Michael Zuieback to a P2 starting position for Race 1. Fred Poordad had another strong qualifying run with a P3 starting position, and Alessandro Chiocchetti, Steve Goldman, and Mike Mc Alister were all right behind as well. When the start of the race unfolded, the race leader opened up a bit of a gap, but it was Michael Zwieback and Fred Poordad running nose-to-tail for the second position. The battle was on for the first half of the race, with both drivers exchanging fast lap times; it seemed that championship leader, Fred Poordad was a bit stronger in the early stages. However, Michael Zuieback was able to fend off the pressures from Poordad, and he opened up a comfortable lead to finish a strong P2 finish. Fred Poordad crossed the line in P3, Steve Goldman finished P4 just ahead of Alessandro Chiocchetti in P5 (the duo had an intense, race long battle with Steve finally passing Alessandro), and Mike Mc Alister finished in P6.

Race 2: Michael Zuieback secured his first pole position for Sunday’s race in dominating fashion, while Fred Poordad would start P2, Alessandro Chiocchetti in P3, Steve Goldman in P4, and Mike Mc Alister in P5. With the Top-5 positions being secured by Competition Motorsports team drivers, it looked to be another good race day for Bob Faieta’s Porsche team. When the green flag waved, Alessandro Chiocchetti stormed to the lead with Mike Mc Alister in tow. Michael Zuieback and Fred Poordad fell back a couple of positions, but they were clearly still in the fight, along with Steve Goldman in the opening laps. Around lap 5, Michael Zuieback passed Mike Mc Alister entering Turn 2. With his sights set to improve on his Race 1 results, Michael Zuieback made a commanding pass into Turn 12 to take the race lead from Alessandro Chiocchetti. From that moment on, Michael Zuieback controlled the race and opened a 10 second lead on the rest of the field. Meanwhile, Fred Poordad worked his way back up to P2 to score valuable championship points, and in the closing laps, Mike Mc Alister passed for P3. At the finish of the race, it was Michael Zuieback taking his first outright victory of the season in his #2 Discount Tire Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car. Fred Poordad claimed a strong P2 finish, Mike Mc Alister finished on the podium for the first time in P3, Alessandro Chiocchetti finished in P4, and Steve Goldman had to stop his strong run by pulling into the pits with a handful of laps to go.
