Stellar Weekend In Sonoma For Competition Motorsports

Tujunga, CA – Competition Motorsports had a stellar weekend in Sonoma, California on June 26th-28th, 2015 with team drivers Alessandro Chiocchetti, Steve Goldman, Mike Mc Alister, Chris Pedersen, Fred Poordad, and Michael Zuieback during the second round of the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA. Over the two 45 minute sprint races, numerous Competition Motorsports drivers earned podium finishes across the Diamond Class (which uses the 991 GT3 Cup Car) and the Platinum Masters Class (which uses the 997 GT3 Cup Car).

Everything seemed to run smoothly for Bob Faieta’s Competition Motorsports team on a racing weekend that was shared with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. On Friday, June 26th there were two 20 minute practice sessions and one 30 minute qualifying session that would determine the starting grid of Race 1. At the conclusion of these sessions, it was evident that all of the Competition Motorsports drivers had good pace in their cars. The following day of Saturday, June 27th, the drivers took the green flag for Race 1 from a rolling start. After a long 45 minute race, Fred Poordad in the #20 Wealth Management Strategies Porsche 991 took the overall win in the Diamond Class, followed by Steve Goldman in the #3 Revita Rugs Porsche 991 in second place, and Mike Mc Alister in the #18 CM Racing Porsche 991 in third place. In addition, Chris Pedersen, driving the #05 Discount Tire Porsche 997, scored a podium finish after his third place in the Platinum Masters Class.

Following Saturday’s Competition Motorsports Race 1 Podium sweep in the Diamond Class, the proceedings for Race 2 began to take place on Sunday, June 28th with a 20 minute qualifying session. All of the team’s drivers took positions towards the front of the grid for the start of Race 2 later in the day. Once the green flag waived, it was a tight battle between Steve Goldman, Fred Poordad, and Michael Zueiback in the #2 Discount Tire Porsche 991 for the Top-3 positions. At the conclusion of Race 2, it was Fred Poordad claiming his second overall victory of the weekend in the Diamond Class, followed by Steve Goldman in second place, and Michael Zuieback in third place; it was yet another Competition Motorsports podium sweep. Overall, the entire team had a dominating performance and will now head to the third round of the championship in Laguna Seca on July 24th-26th.
